Meenakshi

A midnight blue cotton Ikat saree with black striped border, Ikat dashes in the body and an elaborate fish and flower striped end piece. An ivory and and blue striped blouse piece is included.

'Meenakshi' in Hindi means one who has fish-shaped eyes, or a doe-eyed beauty.

It is a tranquil moonlit night and the fish are fast asleep on flowerbeds in their underwater homes. The only one who is awake is the mermaid with eyes as pretty as a fish and with a dream to go to the island once more.
